Diane and Keith will update you here on what they went through during this pregnancy. By doing this, we hope to help people who are having infertility problems and show them that miracles do happen.
Here's a synopsis of the pregnancy until we have a little bit more time.
After more than six years of trying to start their family, Diane and Keith became the proud parents of Sydni, Jacob and Caleb on August 9, 2000.The babies were born at Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas two days after Diane went on full bedrest.
During the pregnancy, Diane developed gestational diabetes, high blood pressure and had to go on semi-bedrest on May 10th at 19 1/2 weeks.
Her days consisted of sleeping on the couch, monitoring her blood sugar and blood pressure levels, and sticking to a strictly diabetic diet. With the help of her mother Regina, and mother-in-law Sherry, she was able to stick to this schedule for three months.
At one of her weekly doctor’s appointment, she was hospitalized due to high blood pressure which is a sign of Preeclampsia. She went in on a Friday and was released on the following Sunday. Following this stay in the hospital, she was put on full bed rest at home (which meant the only time she could get up was to go to the bathroom).
Diane had another doctor’s appointment the following Tuesday and was admitted into the hospital once again for the same symptoms. On Wednesday morning, the doctors were concerned with complications due to Preeclampsia so they ordered an emergency C-Section (at 32 weeks four days).
Luckily, Keith was able to make it to the hospital from work in time for the delivery.
He was in such shock from the delivery that the anesthesiologist had to take pictures during the actual delivery.
